Africa Day 2014

Africa is composed of 58 nations and has African Union (AU) as its umbrella organisation like European Union.  The AU celebrates Africa Day on 25^th May each year.  Here in South Australia, we are starting celebration of African Day on 24/25 May 2014, through strategic principles of partnership, education, empowerment and engagement: including food and culture, music and arts, and sport. We, ACOSA, therefore request   that all community groups, corporate business world, media , sponsors, local universities, SA Amateur Football League, Sports Clubs, FFSA, Honourable Members of Parliament (MPs), Local Government and key State Government Departments such Multicultural, DIMIA & DCSI  come on board and support this historic initiative project and occasion.

Let’s Celebrate African Australians

African Australians have made many positive contributions to Australian society and culture over the years. On 25 August 2012, this was celebrated with an awards ceremony held at the prestigious Sydney Opera House.

Celebrate African Australians Inc. awarded 100 of the most influencial African Australians – including ACOSA President, David Malinda – for their various contributions to Australian society.

David, who is an Australia Day Ambassador for South Australia, was awarded a ‘Living Legend’ award for his contribution to the Australian scientific and cultural community.

African Twilight Market 2012-13

Jambo!

We’re very excited. It’s that time of the year again when we dust off our winter frost and celebrate summertime with the opening of the African Twilight Market.

This is our third consecutive year for the markets, and we’ve been very happy with its success and so we’re pleased to announce that the Twilight Market will be back for 2012-13, starting Friday 12 October 2012, at 6pm –  Prospect Town Hall.

There will be traditional food, arts, clothing, jewellry, music and more from around Africa to celebrate our beautiful cultures.
